Here you can look up the official specifications to certain Russian tubes, as exported to North America from the Reflektor plant. I found these while surfing the web on a lazy Sunday afternoon. These pages have been recently deleted from the manufacturers own web site, and I have no idea why. But I did however make proper notes. I will add tubes as I have time and feel the numbers have a direct bearing on how they are used, abused, and criticized today. Click on a tube designation (if it is up and running), and make sure you are sitting down.
6P3CE is the original Sovtek 5881. I have a hunch there was even an earlier version, which was actually altered to have a pin configuration to match a 6L6. The new base was that wafer-thin example seen that had a hard time fitting into the typical Fender 'bear-trap' tube retainer.
6Pi6C is the very infamous 6V6 sold for about 900 years through every tube vendor, so Sovtek has nothing to be ashamed of. These really weren't a bad tube, but they were certainly no 6V6, and running them in your Fender Deluxe Reverb gave this tube a very undeserved reputation.
